Doubts, the major exhibition that the MOP Foundation is dedicating to Paolo Roversi, is open until 20 September 2026. The exhibition, which brings together iconic masterworks and previously unseen images, offers an intimate journey through his career whilst celebrating his decisive influence on the language of fashion photography.

Over four decades, Paolo Roversi has forged a photographic language that is entirely his own. He has an almost uncanny ability to extend the life of his images. As the critic Vince Aletti has said ‘many of Paolo’s best pictures appear to come together before our eyes… his work is so vibrant that it can’t be confined to the page or the wall’.
Roversi has chosen the title Doubts for his MOP Foundation exhibition because for him doubt is ‘the open door to creativity and imagination whereas certainty closes that door.’ Doubts brings together many of the characteristic elements of Paolo’s approach including his abiding fascination with the experimental possibilities of Polaroid.
With Doubts, the MOP Centre’s building has been transformed into a network of interconnected sections, each expressing a different aspect of Roversi’s aesthetic: Theatre, Appearances, Shadows, Doubts, People, Presence, Grace, Beauty and Fading.

Taken together, they illustrate the dizzying breadth of Roversi’s technical mastery as well as the singularity of his vision and his almost religious conviction that beauty is to be found in silence, in the shadows and the spaces between things.

Doubts, la grande exposition que la Fondation MOP consacre à Paolo Roversi, est ouverte jusqu’au 20 septembre 2026. Réunissant des œuvres emblématiques et des images inédites, l’exposition propose un parcours intime à travers sa carrière, tout en célébrant son influence décisive sur le langage de la photographie de mode.

Depuis plus de quatre décennies, Paolo Roversi a développé un langage photographique qui lui est entièrement propre. Il possède une capacité presque troublante à prolonger la vie de ses images. Comme l’a écrit le critique Vince Aletti : « nombre des meilleures photographies de Paolo semblent naître sous nos yeux… son travail est si vivant qu’il ne peut être contenu dans une page ou sur un mur ».

Roversi a choisi le titre Doubts pour cette exposition à la Fondation MOP, car, pour lui, le doute est « la porte ouverte à la créativité et à l’imagination, tandis que la certitude ferme cette porte ».
Doubts réunit de nombreux éléments caractéristiques de sa démarche, notamment sa fascination constante pour les possibilités expérimentales du Polaroid.
Avec Doubts, le bâtiment du MOP Centre est transformé en un réseau d’espaces interconnectés, chacun exprimant un aspect différent de l’esthétique de Roversi : Theatre, Appearances, Shadows, Doubts, People, Presence, Grace, Beauty et Fading.

Ensemble, ces espaces révèlent l’étendue vertigineuse de sa maîtrise technique, mais aussi la singularité de son regard et sa conviction presque religieuse que la beauté se trouve dans le silence, les ombres et les espaces entre les choses.
